Different types of Computer Networks
1. Personal Area Network (PAN)
The smallest and most basic type of network, a PAN is made up of a wireless modem, a computer or two, phones, printers, tablets, etc., and revolves around one person in one building.2 . Local Area Network (LAN)
LAN is a small and single site network. A LAN connects network devices over a relatively short distance.3. Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN)
A Wan is a geographically dispersed collection of LAN's. The Internet can be considered a WAN as well. A WAN like Internet, can expand most of the World. A network device called a router connects LAN's to a WAN.4. Metropolitan Area Network (MAN)
It is a data network designed for a town or city. It connects an area larger than a LAN, but smaller than a WAN, such as a city, with dedicated or high performance hardware. Its main purpose is to share hardware and software resources by the various users.5. Wide Area Network (WAN)
His allows computers and low-voltage devices to be remotely connected to each other over one large network to communicate even when they’re miles apart.The Internet is the most basic example of a WAN, connecting all computers together around the world.
