New laser technology creates 3D images in liquid display
This mermaid graphic is created from
laser-generated bubbles suspended in a liquid "screen" and
illuminated with a halogen lamp.
Tokyo, Feb 24 (PTI) Scientists
have developed a new technology that creates 3D images by using a laser to form
tiny bubbles inside a liquid screen, allowing users to view images in a
columnar display from all angles without any special glasses or headsets.
"Creating a full-colour
updatable volumetric display is challenging because many three-dimensional
pixels, or voxels, with different colours have to be formed to make volumetric
graphics," said Kota Kumagai, from Utsunomiya
University in Japan.
