A thread is a lightweight sub-process, or the set of processing. In simple words we can say that we divide one process into smaller processes.

Multiprocessing and multithreading, both are used to achieve multitasking.

Swing offers two key features:

Swing components depend less on the target platform and use less of the native GUI resource. Hence the Swing components that don't rely on native GUI are referred to as lightweight components. Swing components are lightweight and don't rely on peers. Swing supports a pluggable look and feel. The three PLAFs available to all users are Metal (default), Windows, and Motif.
